Most of the time, excavation is the method used to perform sewer repair. Many sewer repair and replacement projects require sewer excavation or “digging” to get to the sewer line.

Excavation can be used to expose smaller areas for spot repairs on a sewer pipe, or to dig up the entire length of the sewer pipe. Usually, trenching is done using an excavator, but in some cases, it may not be possible to get the excavating equipment in the work area, requiring the trench to be hand dug.
