Chuck Scheuneman began his career in 1958 as a heavy equipment mechanic for Nebraska Tractor and Equipment Company in Omaha, Nebraska. Before long, he moved up to a sales position, covering northeast Nebraska, and he relocated to Schuyler with his wife, Patricia.

After a time in sales, Chuck decided to go out on his own. He operated a commercial street and lot cleaning business that started in North Bend and expanded to 30 towns and villages across the state, from Omaha to Grand Island, Emerson to Lincoln. On weekends, he swept parking lots in Norfolk, Columbus and Fremont. To help cover his expenses in the off season, Chuck spent his winters selling grader blades, culverts and chains.

His son, Terry, started with the company in 1974, doing repair work and running the street sweepers after school and during the summertime. In 1980, after graduating from Southeast Community College in Milford, Terry joined Midwest Service and Sales Co. full time. 

In the early 1980’s, the sales part of the business began to outperform the cleaning side. The street sweeping portion of the business was sold and, from an old one-room school house on an acre of land, Midwest Service and Sales Co. began to grow into the company it is today. When Chuck first joined forces with Huron Culvert and Tank (now True North Steel), he believed one or two loads of culvert would get him through the year. Currently, we are bringing in one to two truckloads a week in the summertime. 

Along with True North Steel, we developed relationships with Advance Drainage Systems, Black Cat Blades, Bonnell Industries, ECCO Lights, Fair Manufacturing, Hiniker Snow Plows, Kennametal Blades, Lyle Signs, Peerless Chain Company, Shur-Tite Products, Superior Piling, Swenson Spreaders, Torgeson Forest Products, Whelen Emergency Lights, and others to best meet the needs of our customers who include the Nebraska Department of Roads, state counties, cities, townships, contractors, farmers, and individuals.
